Sameer Wankhede was born in Bombay on December 19, 1979. He is the nation’s Narcotics Control Bureau’s ( NCB) Zone Director. His mama was Zaheda Wankhede, and his father was Dnyandeo Wankhede( late).
In addition to running an Organization called Durga and an orphanage, Zaheda traded scraps. His mother was from Surat, and his father was from Murthal, Haryana. Sameer’s two grandparents were from wealthy families.

Career
Sameer qualified for the UPSC and CSE 2007 and was given IRS (C&CE) under CBEC (now CBIC). He was Assistant Commissioner, Customs in the Mumbai CSMI Airport’s Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) from 2010 to 2013.

Aryan Khan Drugs Case
Sameer Wankhede seems to be the subject of disputes frequently. He found the arrest of Aryan Khan (on October 2, 2021) in the cruise narcotics case quite contentious.
Mr. Wankhede has directed many operations to target narcotics dealers in Mumbai and the surrounding areas. From September 2020 on, he has served as NCB’s leader in the case of Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide.

Sameer Wankhede detained the renowned Punjabi singer Mika Singh in 2013. Mika had liquor bottles worth Rs. 53,000, $11,000 in cash, and INR 2.7 Lakh when she arrived from Bangkok. A person flying from another nation and carrying more than $5,000 must disclose the sum to a customs officer at the airport. Mika crossed the green channel without informing his belongings, which was against the law.
Tax Cases
In 2013, Sameer conducted tax evasion raids on several Bollywood actors, including Vivek Oberoi, Anurag Kashyap, and Ram Gopal Varma. Airport staff caught Shahrukh Khan carrying too much luggage during his second visit to the Mumbai airport in 2016; he was fined Rs 1.5 lakh in customs duties.
As the NCB’s Zonal Director, Sameer has been under fire from the media, primarily due to accusations made by Nawab Malik, a minister for the Maharashtra government, in the Aryan Khan case. Mr. Wankhede worked for the NCB until December 31, 2021, when he was purportedly brought back to DRI for administrative purposes.

Honors And Awards

An officer with the Indian Revenue Service since 2008, Sameer Wankhede has won numerous accolades. For his efforts, Sameer Wankhede has received multiple honors and awards. Goa Bhagat Singh Koshiyari and the Governor of Maharashtra gave him “The Sanman 2021”. In addition, he received the Jamadar Bapu Lakshman medal for “Most Outstanding Contribution in Public Service”.
In August 2019, the government awarded him with a Directorate General Disc. Moreover, Mr. Sameer was one of 152 investigators to get the Union Home Minister’s Award for Excellence in Investigation in 2021. Customs held up the 2011 World Cup Trophy 2011 while working at Mumbai Airport because it was pure gold. Sameer Wankhede saw that the government had already paid the tax to allow the trophy to enter the nation.
