New Delhi, July 30 If you have been craving for a ride on a roller coaster and a race down a steep incline or through several loops for an adrenaline rush, go try the virtual thrills offered at Hang Out — south Delhi's latest hotspot.

The X-Rider, a simulated ride, has a ride car which can accommodate a maximum of four people who are required to wear three-dimensional glasses before experiencing the thrill.

An animated video, from a choice of five, is played and a four-dimensional atmosphere created to give riders the real experience of a roller coaster ride.

You go forward, backward, experience falls, jerks, drops, curves and everything that you can expect from a real ride of that kind. However, the difference is that here, you are stationary, but feel otherwise.

It is more or less like the Simpson's or Back To The Future ride at the Universal Studios in the United States.

"It's the first time something like this has come to India. It's a popular concept abroad. This is a 4-D motion ride and everyone from children to their parents can enjoy it," Shalini Vij, owner of Hang Out said.

Hang Out, located on the third floor of the Select Citywalk mall in Saket, is an entertainment and amusement centre with a range of indoor rides and games.

There is also the Mini Rider and the Typhoon, two virtual roller coasters, for children.

For the X-Rider, children below four feet are not allowed entry.

Hang Out, based on a rain forest theme, is aimed at two-year olds to adults.

"That's one of our taglines — '2 to U2'. By this we mean toddlers of two years of age can also come and play in the soft play area, then there are skill games, arcade games, redemption games and baby carousels. By U2 we mean the parents for whom there are various options like the X-Rider, virtual golf and virtual bowling, apart from an in-house cafe," said Vij, a mother of two.

The idea of such an entertainment spot occurred to Vij after she experienced a shortage of secure entertainment centres in India, unlike in America.

"I had been staying in the U.S. for 13 years. Both my children were born there. As a child, my elder son used to love going to Chuck.E.Cheese where kids have a safe, wholesome environment in which they can play. But when we shifted to India, he complained of not having anything like that here," she said.

"There are outdoor amusement parks here, but the extreme heat doesn't make it feasible to leave their children alone and there isn't much security either. So I decided to open such a place here," said Vij.

Hang Out, which has equipment provided by MF Entertainment and Amusement, has been open to public since its launch July 22. A minimum entry card of Rs.275 is required to enter the centre.
